dMa Report

The ‘Morgenstern Report’ as this document has become known was collaboration between the Strathroy District Arts Council, the Township of Strathroy-Caradoc, the Strathroy Business Improvement Area and the Mady Corporation in addition to many participants from the community.  Facilitated by Jim Morgenstern of ‘dMa Planning and Management Services’ in February 2005, this workshop was to better define the Multi-Use Cultural Centre defined in the Cultural Master Plan.

The following points were discussed:

  • Type of Culture Centre desired for Strathroy-Caradoc
  • Possible benefits to the community
  • Who might be involved in its development
  • Challenges associated with implementation
  • Next steps to proceed with the project

It was not the purpose of the workshop to determine the feasibility of a Multi-Use Cultural Centre.  That research would be carried out if, there was enough interest in the community to complete a feasibility study.

The resulting document of this workshop became an important factor in the Strathroy District Arts Council moving to a feasibility study phase for the Wright Family Centre. With the recommendations from the Morgenstern Report and the results from the Cultural Master Plan Needs Assessment Survey, there was ample supporting evidence for a feasibility study.

The Morgenstern Report had three recommendations:

  • Confirm goals and facility components and priorities
  • Determine key partners and responsibilities
  • Prepare a feasibility study

In each of these areas, the Report identified the Strathroy District Arts Council as the lead organization to move the possibility of a Cultural Centre forward.

We thank all of the participants of the Workshop for their time, effort and dedication for the benefit and improvement of the community.
